GOJI SEED & GROWING INSTRUCTIONS

These Goji seeds are not from the Chinese Wolfberry! These Goji Seeds are from the Tibetan Goji Berry, grown in the Himalayan mountains of Tibet, which berries are loaded with nutrients and powerful antioxidants. Start seeds indoors in late winter. The Goji plant is a beautiful hardy, bushy vine with both purple and white small trumpet shaped flowers on the same plant and will grow 10-12 feet long. The Goji will grow in almost any type of soil, light-sandy, Medium-loamy, or heavey-clay, but they tend to flower and fruit better in a well drained soil of moderate quality and can survive winters down to -15 degrees Fahrenheit and hot summers above 100 degrees. They have an extensive root system and are very drought tolerant once established. They prefer full sun to partial shade, so plant them in a sunny location. They do not grow well however, in wet or soggy conditions. The Goji Plant can even be grown as a potted plant if kept pruned. Provide as near as possible the same organic conditions as they have in their native land of the Himalayan mountains and you shall reap the wonderful healthy benefits that our Creator YHWH has blessed us with in the Goji.

PLEASE NOTE: Because the Goji is so new to us here in the USA and else where in the world, it is not known yet if the Goji will adapt to the warmer & tropical climates of the world. The Goji comes from a very cold climate.

Golden Mammoth Purslane

Portulaca oleracea , 300 seeds - 45 days.
This is one of the best sources of omega 3 fatty acids in the plant kingdom.

There is an enormous difference between wild and garden purslane. The garden purslane is upright in growth habit and has succulent leaves and stems twice as large as wild varieties.

Its extraordinary range of Vitamins (A, C and E) and minerals (calcium and potassium salts, phosphorus, manganese and iron), glutathione and Omega 3 fatty acids make this plant a nutritional treasure chest. A great source of anti-oxidants.

Planting: Sow seed direct in garden in the spring 1/4 or plant 1 or 2 seeds to a 1 gal. pot.

If allowed to fully mature in the garden, they will self seed.

Cultivation: Sow 1/4" deep and 1" apart as soon as soil can be worked.

Plant every 2 weeks for a constant supply.
Pull entire plant or cut greens 1-2" above ground to harvest.

Eating: It tastes great chopped in a salad, cooked in soups and stews, or just lightly steamed, buttered and salted.

Purslane is easy to grow and grows quickly. You'll be well pleased and it's delicious!

STEVIA GENERAL GROWING INSTRUCTIONS FOR ZONE 2 THROUGH 8
(Excluding South West, Texas to Florida) and including Pacific North West:

Native to mountains of Paraguay, Stevia grows best in cooler summer weather, after and before danger of frost. Authors write of the difficulty of growing Stevia, killing a number of plants before success. The critical point to raising Stevia is to keep it simple.

1. Start Stevia seed indoors. Plant outside early spring in vegetable garden after danger of frost. Methods which allow a gardener to plant earlier, such as tunnels, hotcaps, and such, are very beneficial.

2. Pinch tips out about every 3-4 weeks for first 1-2 months. This will encourage side branching which will create a bushier plant, that is not spindly. (Remember to dry and use these pinchings)

3. With the last pinching, (about 1-2 months after planting) mulch plants with bark or straw ....this will be just before summer heat, hopefully.

4. Water & fertilize as you would a vegetable garden. Low nitrogen or organic fertilizer is best.

5. Harvest entire plant as flower buds appear.

STEVIA SOUTHERN GROWING INSTRUCTIONS FOR ZONE 9 THROUGH 11
Including all south western desert states, northern Texas, and excluding northern California, and pacific northwest:

* Read the fore mentioned directions #1 through #5.
These will apply to you also. The exceptions are planting dates for Zones 9-11 and dealing with the higher light and temperatures intensities you receive during the summer months.

* The planting dates for Zones 9-11 are determined not so much by the last frost date, but rather by the day length. Because stevia requires a minimum of 12 hours (13 hours is preferred) of day light to remain green and growing and without flowers, the planting date is determined by the sunrise and sunset times available during your local weather forecast, or by contacting your local county extension agent and affiliated agriculture department. A few gardeners in southern Florida (Zone 11) reported that their fall harvested plants re-emerged the following spring in February.

* Filtered afternoon shade will be required for most of this region, but only during the hot summer months. There may be areas in Florida which receive steady afternoon thundershowers, where not even this is required. Afternoon shading can be accomplished by planting stevia on the north side of a tree or any place it will receive filtered light from 12 noon until 4:00 PM. The second option (which is best for larger crops) is to raise this crop under a shade cloth with support.

Golden Incan Berry

Plant Cultivation:
Small shrub similar to the common tomato, can be grown as an annual or perennial. Plants are usually small, only 1-3ft in height. They enjoy full sun, fairly warm (but not hot) temperatures, and protection from frost, but Incan Berry plants will withstand light frosts, unlike tomatoes. In areas where frost or freezes occur, plants are easily grown as annuals. Provide lots of water throughout the growing year, except towards fruit ripening time. Grow in most soil types and will do very well in poor soils and in pots. Plants are susceptible to many of the same diseases and pests as the tomato.

Propagation: By seed or cuttings:
The plants appear to need little or no fertilizer. Fruit production decreased significantly when fertilizer was applied. When fish emulsion or 12-5-10 (NPK) fertilizer were applied at rates approximately 45 lb. N/acre (50 kg/ha), the plants exhibited a great deal of vegetative growth but produced few flowers or fruit. Plants planted in sandy soil without any amendment or fertilizer produced 150 to 300 flowers per plant with a corresponding number of fruit. Plants typically have a sprawling habit similar in size and growth pattern to their relative, the tomato. The plants should be trellised or staked.

Fruit:
Cropping: Harvest August to October

Description:
The Golden Berry has branching stems and a bushy habit. Best grown under glass, producing succulent pineapple flavoured fruits enclosed by a papery husk, looking like Chinese lanterns. Huge crop of fruits throughout late summer/autumn.

Sowing Instructions:
Sow February to March on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator at a constant temperature of around 18-21C (65-70F) until germination, which takes up to 3 weeks

Growing Instructions:
Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots and grow on steadily at 15C (60F). Plant out when 20cm (8in) high, or one plant per 30cm (12in) pot. Can also be planted outdoors once risk of frost has passed. Feed regularly with a high potash tomato food once first flowers are setting. Stake plants if necessary.
