![]() Please Make Checks & Money Orders Payable To Beverly Wheeler Note: Growing 'No1 Ning-qi' Goji From Seeds: "No 1 of Ning-qi" is a Goji hybrid cultivar, 50% of plants propagated from its seeds retain the superior yielding performance as their parent. For example, if you grow Goji using "No 1 of Ning-qi" seeds and have 100 plants, about 50 plants (more or less) will be the same as their parent in yielding and other characteristics. The other 50 plants would be other cultivars that were used to develop 'No 1 of Ning-qi' and they all perform better than most Goji seeds sold on market. Therefore, ideally, start Goji plants from cuttings or young plants of a known cultivar if you want to have a better yielding Goji farm or garden. Dreamland farm www.go-goji.com is working closely with our partners in China to introduce this super cultivar to North America. We expect to market cuttings and plants of this super cultivar here in 2009. We have limited supply of seeds of 'No 1 of Ning-qi' if you want to start your Goji Trees from seeds. A Word About Our Common Goji Seed: Goji or Wolfberry Lycium Barbarum Seed was an easy way to get the Goji started here in America. But, what we are now discovering, is that when you start plants from seed you do not always get plants exactly like its parent plant. Some of our plants have long slender leaves, while others have broader slender leaves, some of them have many thorns, while some have hardly none. Some berries are more round, while others are more oval. What an old gardener friend told me was, is that we will need to select our very best Goji Plants, ones that have the best qualities and propagate them as most other berry plants are done here in America. We have found that the Goji propagates very well when you use the Rooting gel or Powder. You must take cuttings from woody stems, not new growth. About 50% of these seeds will also produce Goji plants like its parent plant. We want our customers to know and understand these things, so you will know what we are all dealing with here in America. We have discovered that there are some 80 verities of the Lycium worldwide. And they all have exceptional health benefits. Even another Lycium sometimes called the Boxthorn, and looks some what like the Goji, has rounded leaves, bigger seeds and bitter berries, is nutritious. There is even one Lycium that grows in the southwest USA that the indians ate, but it’s berries, I am told are very bitter. So the only thing that we can guarantee you is, is that the labeling says that our Goji Seed was wild crafted in Tibet and inner Mongolia, and that these berries do have a mildly sweet flavor. HOWEVER ----------- UPDATE 2008: But, we have now discovered that the Goji Berries Lycium Barbarum imported to the USA are actually from Zhongning County, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region China; Zhongning County China is Home of the Goji! - See the Goji Hoax at: http://go-goji.com/aboutus.aspx or www.go-goji.com if you would like more information. Therefore when possible, it is much better to start Goji plants from cuttings or rooted plants of a known cultivar if you want to have a better yielding Goji farm or garden and we hope that very soon that will all be possible here in America. | Return Home | What's New | Events Schedule | Our Services | On-line Catalog | Great Links | FAQ Page | Contact Us | Download Page | Goji Plants | |
